A Week for SAMA



We would not have been able to put on the show without our many partner clubs, and we wanted to take the time to give recognition to one club in particular: Student Association for Medical Aid (SAMA).  SAMA sold 75 tickets for our final show, which was an amazing contribution to SynesthASIA, and The Abhilasha Project benefited greatly from the ticket revenues generated by SAMA, so we wanted to say thank you again for all your hard work.  We also wanted to give a head’s up to everyone that SAMA is hosting an AMAZING event at Tonic Clublounge THIS SATURDAY!  You can get your ticket ($10) from any SynesthASIA exec member.  See below or the facebook event page for more information.

Event Info:

“Love for SAMA – Wear Pink, Red and White”

SAMA (Student Association for Medical Aid) is a non-profit organization run by McGill students. We raise funds during the year and all monies raised are used to establish humanitarian projects in developing nations (no funds are spent on our members’ travel expenses or accommodations). Some of our common projects are mobile medical clinics, latrine building projects, and education about basic hygiene and AIDS.  We are also working to establish sustainable means for communities to earn an income. It is also our goal to build community leaders in order to ensure the success of these projects continues on. This year we will be traveling to Kenya, Georgia and returning to Uganda.

In order to facilitate these projects, we are throwing a club night at Tonic Club Lounge, Saturday, February 12^th, 2011.

Theme: “Love for SAMA – Wear Pink, Red and White”

Tickets are $10 and in return for your support there will open bar for the ladies before midnight and complimentary red roses and Hershey kisses.

We just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who participated in, and came out to, the SynesthASIA 2011 Charity Fashion Show, we could not have made the show what it was without you.  While exec is slowly recovering from the whirlwind that was SynesthASIA, we will be sure to keep you posted on when pictures/the DVD will be available, there are already some behind the scenes pictures posted in our facebook group that you can see here.

Pre-Party Extravaganza

In our last post we mentioned an event before the final show, and we weren’t lying.  This Friday, January 14th Friday Night Live! is happy to present the SynesthASIA PRE-PARTY at Tonic Club Lounge!

A Quick Peek into the SynesthASIA Life

First off, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to everyone who came out to one (or all) of our events last week!  Everything was a major success and we would not have been able to do it without your help!  We raised over $1500 last week ALONE!

After auditions finished and the judges had picked the models and dancers for this year’s show, we hosted a Cast Orientation so that all of the cast could meet us (the exec) and go over the preliminary plans for the show.  We even had time for some games (and pizza of course!)

If you made it to Gerts last Friday afternoon for our Beauty Bar, you know what a success it turned out to be!  Shoutout to Evie, our set design manger and henna tattooist extraordinaire and Andi, our VP Sponsorship, the girl was a manicure machine!

Friday, November 12 we present to you SYN BEAUTY BAR – a wonderful place to get a 10 minute manicure (yes, that’s right, they do exist) or a fabulous Henna tattoo for $5 each ($8 for both a manicure and tattoo) and escape the madness and stress that is McGill in November.

Here is something to put you in the beauty bar mood – I mean, who doesn’t love Grease?

From 12-4PM at GERTS BAR (basement of SSMU [3600 McTavish Street] at McGill University) come get a manicure, peruse the VINTAGE CLOTHING SALE and $1 Grab Bin for second-hand gems or pick up some glamorous fake eyelashes from the amazing Tina Chu.

We will also be selling RAFFLE tickets with amazing prizes such as a gift certificate to ROUGE Nail Bar for a Manicure/Pedicure + OPI nail polish of your choice ($90 value), 2 tickets to a Montreal Canadiens hockey game, an iPod nano and many more!  Winners will be announced at the Cast Party that night, so make sure you come out to Tonic! On a side note, we had our Model/Dancer Orientation today and it went SO WELL!  Thank you so much to everyone who came out today, we are so excited for the show this year, it’s going to be amazing.  Speaking of , we have an official date and venue for the show!  It will be on FRIDAY, JANUARY 28, 2011 at TELUS THEATRE [1280 rue St. Denis]
