A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words…

While most of the photos from the final show can be found on our group page on Facebook we wanted to do a little post thanking the blog Gusto by M&A for featuring photos of the show! Ali F, one of the co-founders of the blog, was kind enough to come to the show and take some fabulous pictures of the models and dancers, so without further ado, here are some of the beautiful pictures!

For all of the images, click over to Ali’s blog here.

Featured Designers: Valérie Dumaine

Valérie Dumaine has been in the Montreal fashion scene for more than twelve years now, and we are so happy to have such an established designer take part in our show.  She began her career in Montreal after she graduated from LaSalle College, traveled to Europe (Germany in particular) to work for another few years, and is now back and creating more waves than ever with her collections in Montreal.  Unwilling to reveal any photos of the clothes appearing in tonight’s show, the only way to get a glimpse of these most recent works of fashion art will be to buy a ticket and come see them in person!

Featured Designers: Of Rags

Hailing from Ghana by way of New York City, Of Rags is sustainable fashion at its coolest.  A fair trade fashion cooperation for sustainable community development, Of Rags donates 40% of their profits directly to public health and education initiatives.

The company, which employs on demand 10 seamstresses at the Buduburam Liberian Refugee Camp, has plans to consistently employ the seamstresses at Fair Trade living wages.

A lovely line from their website is the following quote: “It’s not poverty reduction, rather wealth creation.” This message resonates strongly with us, which is why we are SO pleased to feature Of Rags in our show this year.

Featured Designers: Preloved

What’s not to love about Preloved? Famous for giving life and style to vintage, reclaimed fabrics, Preloved is a staple in the Canadian, and now international [with their new boutique in Sydney, Australia] fashion scene, and we are so excited to have the line in our show again.

From Preloved’s website:

“Preloved creates one of a kind clothing from reclaimed vintage fabrics. Our passion is design and our philosophy is sustainability. Attention to fit, comfort and style has been our driving force.”

Preloved fans are in good company. Devotees of Preloved include models, actors and musicians such as Julia Roberts, Kirsten Dunst, Angela Lindvall, Hillary Duff, Maria Menounos, Anne Hathaway, Christine Horne, Kate Hudson and Daria Werbowy.

If Preloved isn’t a line for feel-good fashion, we’re not sure what is.  Combining sustainability with style, now that’s something we can get behind :)

Featured Designers: Anastasia Lomonova

This designer knows how to make a practical mini dress.  Wait what? Is there such a thing? Well Anastasia Lomonova has perfected the art of constructing mini dresses that are both fabulously sexy and wonderfully wearable, and that’s as good a definition for practical as I’ve ever heard ;)

Anastasia Lomonova began her self-titled line when she was 22, a few years after studying briefly at Ryerson University.  Four years later, Lomonova is well-known in the Montreal fashion scene, and we CAN’T WAIT to see the pieces she will be showcasing in our show.

SynesthASIA 2011 Tickets. Hotter than David Beckham.

Any reason to include a naked picture of Beckham is a good reason.

FOUR DAYS UNTIL THE SHOW. Enough said. We are selling tickets all week so make sure you find a table or an exec and BUY THOSE TICKETS! Tickets are flying so we make no guarantees that we will have any left over for sale at the door, i.e.  GET THEM IN ADVANCE!  It’s the smart thing to do people.

Mirror Mirror on the Wall

A big THANK YOU to the Montreal Mirror for doing a preview of our show!  Last week Chris Barry spoke with VP Public Relations Sophie Tremblay about SynesthASIA and our upcoming charity fashion show.  Check out the article, which came out Thursday, January 20th, titled “Hot threads for good,” here, and see it up close and personal below!

Featured Designers: Anomal Couture

Sonia Leclaire is the woman behind the fabulous line Anomal Couture. Beginning in 2004, Leclaire has created a strong, fierce line of clothing for women who like classic, detailed design with an edge.

Leclaire’s F/W 2011 blends old school Victorian class, domineering black leather and a rockstar sensibility into a strong, sensual collection for the woman who isn’t afraid to show off her figure or say what’s on her mind.

Most recently, Anomal Couture was featured in the December issue of Z!NK, as seen below.  This is a line that you definitely want to keep you eye on, and we are SO excited to be able to feature Anomal Couture in our 2011 show! Check out Anomal Couture’s website for more details and pictures.
